Story No. 01: The Wishing Tree

Hello everyone, today I’m taking you to the Indian countryside, a long, long time ago…

Exhausted after a long day of walking, a walker, like you and me, is looking for a place to rest… he finds, at the edge of a wood, a majestic tree, finally offering the shade he so desperately needed. He decides to settle there, hoping for a little peace and quiet. But, unknowingly, he has just found himself leaning against a magical tree. This tree has the ability to grant the wishes of all who shelter within it.

After a few moments, exhausted by his long day of walking, he falls asleep… After a few hours, hunger wakes him up. It has happened to all of us to wake up tormented by hunger. He then thinks of his favorite dishes, a lobster, a roast, cakes… And then, as if by magic, a table filled with all these succulent dishes appears in front of him. What a surprise! Without thinking too much, he then begins his meal with happiness!

Shortly after, he feels thirsty. And then, as if by magic, once again, a selection of his favorite drinks materializes before him. Water, wine, champagne… What a pleasant surprise… Without holding back, he drinks with relish…

Finally satisfied, he is happy and enjoys every moment of this extraordinary experience.

Then a thought crosses his mind: “How is it possible that all this appears around me as if by magic? But who brings me all this… Ghosts? Surely! They must be prowling around me…”

He barely asks the question when ghosts materialize, circling around him. Panicked, he imagines they’re surely there to harm him, and that perhaps their intention is to kill him.

In a flash, one of the ghosts lunges at him and stabs him, brutally ending this day, so full of miracles.

This story, although drawn from Hindu mythology, is much more than a simple legend. It carries within it a fundamental lesson:

Perhaps true magic lies in our ability to choose our thoughts and use this power to build a more fulfilling and serene life.
